SunChild Environmental Festival was established in 2007 by the “Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets in the Republic of Armenia†(FPWC) and will take place every second year. The next edition is scheduled for October 25-29, 2009. FPWC was founded in 2001. Since then the organization has focused on the aim to raise public awareness for environmental issues and to stimulate an open discussion which helps to develop creative solutions for environmental problems in Armenia and the whole Caucasus region. FPWC organizes environmental education activities, festivals and other projects, such as the production of documentaries about endangered nature and wildlife in Armenia. In 2007 FPWC launched the SunChild 1st Environmental Festival in order to establish a platform for intercultural exchange and cooperation about environmental issues. As the festival emphasizes the participation of the young generation it has a huge children program. This program includes a youth´s film competition for young filmmakers as well as children art exhibitions and a lot of environmental activities for children. The Festival held in 2009 will involve within its frames children program comprising of a huge carnival in the streets of Yerevan, film program, number of workshops, exhibitions and many other activities. This will serve as a unique platform for sharing creative ideas and experiences as well as creating rooms of cooperation among the regions and neighboring countries on the existing environmental issues. SunChild 2nd International Festival will be the combination of the mutually beneficiary cooperation, series of seminars and workshops on the sustainability in combination with the implementation of the CSR strategy. The festival will be remarkable for running various exhibitions, film screenings and colorful events. Taking into consideration that environmental education of the young generation is one of the most crucial factors for the solution of our global environmental problems the organizers of SunChild Festival call for the submission of films which are focused on this very topic. We are eager to receive films which encourage and empower children and youths to take care of nature and environment as well as to participate in political decisions concerning environmental issues. Apart from the children and educational sections the festival offers awards for the best international wildlife documentary and the best international investigation of environmental issues.
